Creating Polls in Chat for Moderators

Utilizing Rumbletalk's poll feature within a chat window is a helpful way to communicate and gather information about the session or page you are viewing. The following few steps will help you start creating polls in Event Cloud!

Assigning Chat Moderator/Admins

In order to send polls, you must first have the Chat Moderator role. Let's get that set up.

1. First, in the Admin portal, we need to assign users the custom role that is listed under the Chat Moderator field in Chat Configuration.

  • This setting is found by clicking the 'Event' tab > clicking 'Setup Properties' > clicking 'Event Options' tab > then the 'Edit' button.
  •  Then choose a custom role from the Drop-down list.

To assign your Chat Moderator role to users, or if you need help creating new Custom Roles, please visit the following articles:

IMPORTANT: Only users that have this custom role will be able to create polls.

7. Then you can choose to click the 'Save', 'Send' or 'Cancel' option.

  • SAVE: This option will save your poll in the LiveChat feature so you can revisit it at a later time or at the end of your session. A saved poll will appear in the Polls List.
  • SEND: Selecting this will post your poll for attendees to view. They can then read your question and choose one of your answers.
  • CANCEL: This will cancel your work on this poll

Polling Question Best Practices

  • Please note, using an apostrophe character ( ' ) within your questions or answers will cause the poll you created to not be accessible within the polls list.

Voting on a Poll

1. After the Poll has been sent by the chat moderator, attendees can vote by selecting one of the poll answer options:

*Please note: in order to vote, you must have third-party/cross-site Cookies enabled.

  • CANCEL: This will cancel your work on this poll
  • DELETE: This will remove the ability to edit, save, or send a poll.
  • SAVE: This option will save your poll in the LiveChat feature so you can revisit it at a later time or at the end of your session. A saved poll will appear in the Polls List.
  • SEND: Selecting this will post your poll for attendees to view. They can then read your question and choose one of your answers.

Please keep in mind that you can Send a poll multiple times, but attendees that have already voted the first time around will be able to vote again after the poll has been resent.

Also, please note that Session and Sponsor Booth chats are separate from Attendee to Attendee (A2A) chats. To view chat history for a specific session return back to that session's details page. This process is similar for viewing sponsor booth chat history; navigate back to that sponsor's booth.
