Standard Roles
In all likelihood, there are going to be many people at your event. In addition to your speakers, you'll have admins who oversee all of the users and preparatory assignments for your event. Your event may include session owners, who oversee all of the sessions that relate to a particular topic. On top of that, there may be hundreds (if not thousands) of attendees.
When you're preparing for your event, Event Cloud features a set of standard user roles. These roles dictate your users' specific permissions, responsibilities, and functionality of the platform. There can be multiple users who share the same role.
Note: All users who plan to participate in a virtual event should have the role of Attendee.

Custom Roles
In addition to the standard roles listed above, Event Cloud allows you to create custom user roles. This enables you to customize user privileges based on the specific needs of your event including limiting access to specific sessions or content, and grouping users together for staffing assignments or meetings. Once you create a custom role, you can assign it to any number of users you'd like.
1. From the Admin portal, select Users | ![]() |
2. Select Custom Roles | ![]() |
3. Click on Add Custom Role at the bottom of the page | ![]() |
4. Enter Custom Role Title and Role Description. Click Save when you're finished.
Please note that a custom role title CANNOT include any special characters |
|
5. Your new custom role should now appear on the custom role list |
Once you've added a custom role, you can assign it to your user(s). Custom roles can be assigned on a user's individual profile page or in bulk on the all users page (for more information on managing users, check out our User Management Guide)
1. Once you find an individual user, click the Edit (pencil) icon next to their name. |
|
2. On the next page, scroll down to the bottom until you find the Custom Roles section. From here, add one or more custom roles by clicking on the add (+) next to the role. You can remove roles by clicking the subtract (-) icon. |
