General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the EU framework that enables protection of personal data collection and privacy of EU citizens (European Union). GDPR applies to any company, regardless of size, that provides product or services and collects and stores data about a EU user.  Companies that collect data from EU countries, must comply by May 25, 2018.  Companies that don’t comply, will face severe fines (2%-4% of their annual revenue).

By default, Notified will enforce GDPR on all standard registration pages (Online Events, Webcasts, Video Portals).  Below will outline general specifications:

  • GDPR is enforced based on the country the user selects from the country drop down list on an Notified registration page.  If the user selects an EU country, they will be prompted to agree to the terms of use.  If a user does not agree to the terms they will not be registered.
  • Clients have the ability to customize their own country list as well as the GDPR "terms of use" message that appears on the registration page. Requests can be sent to an Notified PM/Webcast Engineer for Full Service Clients. Self Service client requests can submit a ticket with Solutions to assist with updating this list.
  • A report can be made available to display all registered GDPR users from a given event/webcast.
  • Users have the right to be forgotten. When this is requested, a user’s profile information and data collected will be anonymized within the specified tenant. If a user would like to be anonymous, the request should be sent to gdpr@Notified.com

For 3rd party registration (i.e. API), it's the responsibility of the 3rd party to ensure they are only passing users who have accepted the GDPR policy.  In addition, when using the mass upload tool, it is the responsibility of the client to provide a list of users who have opted into the GDPR policy.
