Question: In the Second Screen setup option, what is the difference between “Email & Name Login Method” and “Standard Login Method”?
Answer: Email & Name Login Method allows both new users and previously registered users to login to Second Screen by entering an Email Address and User Name. In this setup, users are sent to a unique login page that is specific to Second Screen.
When a new user logs into Second Screen, a user profile is created and auto-registered at that time. Note that the registration/user data captured from the Second Screen login is limited to the user name and email address that is entered on login. No other registration data is requested from the user.
If an existing user logs into Second Screen with an email address that’s previously registered for one or more events in the tenant, a new user will not be created. The login record will be automatically associated to the user’s existing profile account.
Email & Name Login Method is recommended as a simple login option for physical event audiences and/or customers who want to allow the creation & registration of a new user during the login process. Email & Name is typically used when most users are already registered for a physical event and/or an externally facing 365 Online Event (Community).
Standard Login requires users to be previously registered and/or able to register on the fly via a registration page (if one exists). In this setup, users are sent to the event/webcast login page. Standard Login is recommended as a more secured login method for corporate communications audiences or customers who want to enforce their standard login/password authentication and standard registration requirements. When an event uses SSO, it is typically recommended to use Standard Login for Second Screen.
